Description
Gin is made very differently but quite similar to making a Geist. A clean (or neutral spirit) is used into which a combination of botanicals are infused. The smoother and more neutral alcohol, the better as you don’t want any other flavours from the alcohol to interfere with the signature taste of the Gin. That is why, at Wilderer, we spare no expense to use the highest grade ‘A-spirits’ available on the market which is distilled from white wine. This wine spirits is amazingly smooth and doesn’t carry any off-flavours which can contaminate the Gin. Other distilleries often would use C-spirits which is rougher and has a chemicalflavour which can sometimes be found in the Gin.
When making Gin, the natural essential oils in the botanicals are extracted and dissolved into the neutral alcohol. Alcohol, being highly reactive and have a high affinity for oil, will would carry the aroma of the natural plants used.
