“I know of no other place on earth with a more ideal combination of attributes for Malbec” ~ Paul Hobbs

The wines of Viña Cobos are the result of a shared vision inspired by the passion of American winemaker Paul Hobbs and Argentine winemaking partners Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud to produce expressive, world-class wines with a true sense of place. They express the true identity of each variety and its terroir.

The balance in the vines allows the winemaking team to concentrate the best characteristics of aroma, structure and composition of each grape variety. The winemaking philosophy is to produce wines with natural practices and assuring that in each step the vines and wines are treated with utmost care. They encourage and pursue fermentation with indigenous yeast and prefer to bottle the wines unfiltered and unfined in order to retain their full body and persistent finish.

Our portfolio includes wines from three ranges offered by Viña Cobos:

The Felino wines exhibit a great balance of pure, concentrated fruit, lively acidity and smooth tannins. They are all vibrant, mouth-filling wines that pair exceptionally well with food. Available in South Africa are the Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals.

Bramare is the Italian word meaning to yearn for and this truly embodies the desire to produce stunning wines whilst paying heritage to the Italian roots of the Marchiori family. In this range, a single vineyard Malbec is available.

The rare Cobos label Malbec is only produced in exceptional vintages, from the oldest vines in unique blocks within single vineyards. It exhibits levels of concentration and power rarely achieved in Argentina, or in the other top winegrowing regions of the world, for that matter. It goes without saying that these rare wines are only available on allocation.
